PHILIPS'
POPULAR MANIKIN OR MODEL OF THE HUMAN BODY
An illustrated representation with full and descriptive letterpress.
Edited by William S. Furneaux. Printed in England by George Philip &
Son, Ltd, 32 Fleet Street, EC4 (LONDON).
Contents include the Skin, the Skeleton, the Muscular System, the Heart
and Blood Vessels, the Respiratory System, the Urinary Apparatus, the
Nervous System, the Organs of the Senses.
The paper model at the back is in good shape. You simply keep peeling,
through the skin, through the rib cage, the lungs, heart and digestive
system through to the back of the body.
No date but there is an original owner's signature & date written to
the title page in ink "Svend Iversen, October 1927".
My photos show the paper mannequin at the back but the other 16 pages also
have detailed illustrations. In fine condition, all complete, minor age
wear & foxing and the digestive system is loose, but complete.
16 pages and very long, approximately 19" x 8". |

JUGGLING
CLUBS - CIRCUS
Vintage
pair of 3lb juggling clubs. The maker's mark appears on both wooden club
"Spalding Gold Medal" Model B 3.LB. These have had use, and wear
and tear, but in my mind, it simply adds to the charm. Approximately
20" in length. |

SIEBE GORMAN
Fabulous
vintage Siebe Gorman bellows, used to supply air to the Smoke Helmet.
Circa 1850/1950. One metal tag is still present; it reads :
Everything for Safety Everywhere
Siebe Gorman & Co. Ltd
Neptune Works
Chessington, Surrey
Manufacturers of
Mine and Industrial Safety Appliances
It also has a small round tag marked Serial No B1526 and has a number
engraved on the wooden base (1 22085).
Unfortunately the "Code of Signaling by Means of Lifeline" tag
is missing and so is the pedal.
The bellows are in working conditions but could do with a good
clean/polish. The spring is rusty but does its job and there are the odd
woodworm holes (not live) - as can be expected for its age.
Overall size is approximately 20 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide and 11
1/2" tall. |
